Happy New Year and welcome back to our Gran`s group meetings! We wanted to start the year off with some planning, social time, snacks and Lifebook scrapbooking. Lifebooks are a fun and valuable asset for the children as they gorw and develop that are meant to include highlights of memories in a child`s life that they can keep with them forever. We will be meeting on January 30th from 1230-230 at the foster support office, Suite 202-2735 East Hastings St. Vancouver BC V5K 1Z8. There is some parking available in the lot and free street parking available. Please bring your photos and we will provide snacks and scrapbooking supplies. Contact me to confirm you are coming.

FSGV Family Snapshot Workshop

Are you overwhelmed by all of the forms and applications?

Please join us for a Chance to Finally Get Some of That Annoying Paperwork Done

Hello Parents and Caregivers,

If you are like me, paperwork is at the very bottom of the list. So we’ve decided to make the process easier and hopefully more fun. Come to a meeting on Saturday January 14th and we’ll spend the morning eating muffins, drinking coffee, laughing and doing paperwork with the help of some knowledgeable
people. Attached is a flyer for the session. Please print and post widely.

We will be providing information on the process and/or forms to fill out in 4 important areas:

1. Applications for PWD (Persons with Disability form). This is the $906 per month that your child is eligible for once they are 18. The process should be started when they turn 17.

2. Reviewing the CLBC questions that are used for assessment and planning when you apply for adult services for your son or daughter after the age of 19.

3. A sample Representational Agreement. This form is best filled out with help, on an individual family basis, but we will show you what it looks like and what to prepare for.

This is a form that gives you some say in various areas of your child’s life once they attain adult status. Without it, you have no legal say in such areas as financial and medical decisions.

4. We’ll also provide info and/or forms for applying for Social Insurance Numbers and BC IDentification cards.

Terry Schenkel from DDA has kindly agreed to attend together with Parent Transition
Coordinators. We hope to get quite a lot done in a friendly supportive environment!
